How To Plan Your Laundry Renovation

Plan To Perfect

How our laundry room functions varies from household to household. The amount of laundry we do each week, the time of day and amount of time we spend in the laundry and how we physically utilise the space differs from family to family.

Most laundry’s are dual purpose, serving as an extension of either the kitchen and/or the outdoor areas of our homes. Yet so often, these dual purposes were not planned for and as a result, our laundries are often disorganised and cluttered.

*Please note, all laundry cabinets are delivered to Sydney Metro areas only.

So when planning your laundry renovation, make sure to carefully consider your needs to ensure that your laundry space is well-organized and efficient.

Layout

  • What do you like and dislike about your existing laundry?
  • How much storage space do you need?
  • Do you need space for hampers? Would built-in hampers be more efficient?
  • Would sorting clothes on benchtops be more convenient?
  • Any laundry habits? Where do you fold clothes?
  • Where will you store your ironing board?
  • What time of day do you do Laundry? Do you have sufficient lighting?
  • What other functions take place in the laundry? Do you use this space to wash pets, store food items or gardening items? Does the laundry space double as a mud-room? Consider the needs of each function.

Measure

Make sure your measurements are as precise as you can achieve. Measure accurately the amount of space you have to work with and the size of the cabinets you want to install. Here’s our guide to measuring that will help set you on the right track.

Budget

Depending on your laundry size and how big the renovation project is, the average cost of renovating a laundry room in Australia in 2021, ranges between $5000 to $25000. This includes fixtures and hired labourers.

Choose Your Laundry Style

ADP is our laundry cabinet provider. As a family owned business, high quality Australian made products are their forté. There are three main ADP Laundry cabinet styles available, each with their own unique features.

Firstly, consider what is most important to you. Functionality? Storage? Accessibility and ease with open shelving to grab and go? Perhaps you prioritise minimalism and ease of upkeep? Next consider how you want your laundry to look and feel. What do your cabinet doors look like - are they woodgrain, coloured, shaker style, or v-groove?

Whether you prefer a modern look or classic charm, you can definitely find your style with our modular laundry cabinets.

Place Your Order Online

To order your new laundry cabinets and extras, simply download ADP's laundry brochure to get started. This is where you can go about selecting your cabinet finish, style, layout, and a range of extras to make your life easier (we personally love the inclusion of a built-in laundry hamper, or a pull-out swivel ironing board!).

Fill in the ‘Plan Your Layout’ section on pages 6-7 of the brochure and draw out your laundry layout in the grid provided. Don’t forget about where your water inlets and electrical outlets will sit, as this will be locked in place! If you need a refresher on how to measure your laundry, read our helpful guide here!

Now that you’ve drawn up your plan, please send this through to our customer service team to place your order with our supplier! We will keep you updated and informed as to the whereabouts of your order. You will also receive a tracking number once your cabinetry has been dispatched.

Update Your Fixtures

With new cabinetry comes new fixtures! Two important fixtures to complete your laundry renovation are tapware and sinks, however, we also believe underfloor heating is a great feature to add if your budget allows.

  • Tapware finish and style should match the overall design of your home.
  • Laundry sink taps and washing machine taps should also match.
  • Consider adding a pull-out spray mixer if you are using the laundry to wash larger items, babies or pets!
