Bao Bath Toilet Suites Buying Guide

Bao's range is deliberately compact rather than broad, focused on getting one design right rather than offering many variations. That restraint shows in the pairing of a fully rimless bowl with a slim cistern profile, a combination chosen specifically to keep the suite's silhouette clean against the wall, without the bulkier cistern housing older toilet designs typically carry.

What Bao Bath is known for

Rimless construction removes the ledge inside the bowl where bacteria and residue would otherwise accumulate, making cleaning both faster and more thorough than with a traditional rimmed pan. Every suite in the range ships with a soft-close, quick-release seat, which simplifies both day-to-day hygiene and future seat replacement, since the seat lifts off without tools when it needs to be removed for cleaning or eventual replacement.

Key suite in the range: Bao Elegant

The Bao Elegant Universal Rimless Toilet Suite is the range's signature model, a wall-faced, close-coupled suite with a concealed rough-in that adapts to either an S-trap or P-trap configuration. This adjustability means it's compatible with most existing Australian waste configurations without needing to alter the existing plumbing.

The pan measures approximately 680mm in length, sized to suit standard Australian rough-in distances of 140mm to 200mm from the wall, which covers the majority of existing bathroom layouts.

Flush performance and water ratings

Bao's dual-flush cistern is rated to WELS (Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards) requirements, delivering a 4.5-litre full flush and a 3-litre half flush, which together qualify the suite for a 4-star WELS rating. Over a year of average household use, a 4-star-rated suite uses roughly 40% less water than an unrated cistern from the 1990s, a meaningful reduction given how frequently a toilet is used daily.

Finish and colour option

The current Bao range is available in gloss white vitreous china. Vitreous china is fired at high temperature to produce a non-porous surface, which resists staining and the fine surface cracking (crazing) that can develop in lower-quality ceramic over time.

Gloss white is a deliberately versatile choice rather than a limitation: it coordinates with most existing Australian bathroom colour schemes and sits comfortably alongside chrome, brushed nickel or matte black tapware, letting the tapware and tiling carry the room's colour and finish direction rather than the toilet itself. There is currently no matte or coloured finish offered within the Bao range.

Where Bao suites work well

Bao suits renovations wanting a clean, contemporary look without the higher price point of a fully in-wall cistern system. The wall-faced profile conceals pipework behind the pan, giving a neater finished appearance than an exposed-trap model, without the additional installation cost and wall planning a full in-wall cistern requires.

The pan's compact length also suits bathrooms under 1500mm in depth, where a longer traditional pan would encroach on already limited floor space.

Comparing Bao to other toilet suite options

Bao sits at the entry-to-mid price tier within The Blue Space's toilet range. For a broader range of sizes, flush ratings and finish options, including coloured and matte finishes, the full Toilets collection includes options from Caroma, Fienza and other brands, some with extended warranty coverage and a wider range of trap configurations.

For a full bathroom renovation, The Blue Space's Bathroom Vanities and Tapware collections stock finishes that coordinate well with the Bao suite's gloss white finish, and the Mirrors collection is worth reviewing to complete the room's overall design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Bao toilet suites different from other rimless toilets in this range?

Bao's suites pair a rimless bowl with a soft-close, quick-release seat and an easy-clean glaze over the entire pan (including the trapway and neck), aimed at reducing staining and simplifying day-to-day cleaning on top of the rimless hygiene benefit.

What warranty does Bao Bath offer on its toilet suites?

Bao Bath offers a 10-year product warranty, with the first 12 months covering parts and labour, for long-term peace of mind on top of standard Australian Consumer Law guarantees.

What configurations are available in the Bao Elegant range?

The Bao Elegant range includes a Universal Rimless Toilet Suite, a Rimless Back to Wall Toilet Suite (available in standard and Matte White finishes, including a raised-height option), and a Wall Faced Toilet Pan available in Matte White or Gloss White.

Will a Bao toilet suit both S-trap and P-trap plumbing?

Yes, Bao's universal cistern suites are designed to suit both back-entry and bottom-entry cistern plumbing and are suitable for either S-trap or P-trap installation, with a pan connector supplied.

Is Bao Bath an Australian brand?

Yes, Bao Bath is an Australian brand, designed out of a Sydney-based design studio, offering a coordinated range of baths, basins, toilets and shaving cabinets.
